Welcome to the August 28, 2006 edition of Carnival of Real Estate.  What a great bunch of bloggers we have in participation!  Here are the submissions this week, in no particular order, except for my #1 pick being listed first:

Kevin Kneupper presents How to Buy Real Estate in Costa Rica posted at Free the Drones Personal Finance Blog.  His information and links to other sources are so complete, this is why I’m voting this post my #1 pick for this week’s carnival!  This is the kind of information people pay money for, and it’s all neatly laid out for us here in the blogosphere.  Thanks Kevin!

Henry Abbott of TrueGotham points out the distinctive differences between an agent and a broker in Brokers vs. Agents.  He contemplates whether there’s a correlation between experience/education and ethics.

Katie presents Financial Bloggers Losing Focus posted at Aridni.  She debates whether it’s worthwhile to keep our net worth statements updated to the penny or to spend our time focusing on our investments.

Daniel Rothamel of Charlottesville Area Real Estate Blog posts Experience Matters?  He discusses the role that experience plays in being a good Realtor, or NOT!

Dan Melson of Searchlight Crusade writes When You Should Not Buy Real Estate.  Dan gives us three solid examples of when buying can actually create a problem for the homeowner.

Frugal presents The Duel of ARM Reset vs Re-refinancing posted at My 1st Million At 33.  Options for what borrowers can do when their ARMs expire are explained, along with mathematical examples of their impact.

Joshua Dorkin of BiggerPockets gives us the Top 35 Real Estate Blogs.  Many of our carnival contributors are listed!

Pittsburgh Homes Daily presents Riverfront Pittsburgh, detailing an exciting waterfront real estate project, complete with artist renditions.

A Samuel of Nubricks considers the viability of another real estate television channel with Overseas Property TV Show Useful Tool or Just a Platform to Showcase MacAnthony Real Estate.  You’re invited to debate the issue and vote in an online poll.

Rory Siems presents Bringing Active Rain Home To My Website and shows us how he brought an RSS feed into Laguna Niguel Orange County Real Estate. He also cites an example of how to tell if your real estate agent is not the area specialist.

Jonathan J. Miller presents Drawing The Line: Buyers And Sellers Try To Meet - Is The Broker In The Way? posted at Matrix.  He refutes a position from academia and shows us the value of using a broker as our negotiator in a real estate deal.

Jon Ernest of Spotlight Realty’s Real Estate Blog presents Cambridge Condo Conversion Chronicle Part 3 in which he recounts the day the inspector and the contractor came over to take a look around.

Chuck presents Lessons Learned From Selling For Sale By Owner posted at The Finance Journey.  Chuck provides an excellent detailed account of his experience selling his townhouse on his own, including total expenses and mistakes made!

Aaron Dickinson presents Prices Are Officially Flat posted at Minneapolis Real Estate Market Update.  Aaron points out that home prices in the Twin Cities remain unchanged from last year at this time.

Jeannie Bauer presents The Greatest Real Estate Tool Ever (Part 1) on Bouncing Back.  Jeannie is considering selling her house and she details how Zillow is helping her with her research.

Mike Simonsen presents The Fundamentals Behind the Housing Boom posted at Altos Research Real Estate Insights.  Mike cites that a booming economy and developments in the mortgage market are contributing to the housing boom.

Jim Duncan presents A New Website and Unintended Consequences posted at Real Central VA.  Jim plugs Ubertor as the software he’s currently testing in his quest for technology for his real estate site.

Todd Waller presents Real Vindication of an Agent’s Worth: Experience+Technology posted at SE Michigan Real Estate.  Todd offers an interesting perspective on how agents and buyers/sellers can view the recent technological advances in the real estate business.

Nina Smith presents Maintaining a Lifestyle of Conformity posted at Queercents, comparing community and conformity with respect to master planned communities.

Rudolph D. Bachraty III presents I’m the Buyer Goddammit! posted at Sellsius Real Estate Blog.  He shares his list of wants as a buyer.

Clifford Jacobson presents Even When Zillow Is Wrong, They’re Right. A Different Home Search Model posted at Web Home USA Blog.  He provides insights into what business Zillow is really in, and how Realtors can benefit from adopting it.

Greg Swann presents Dood! Web 2.0 is Totally! Freakin! Awesome! posted at BloodhoundBlog, saying, “I have seen the future and it like totally rocks!”

Marlow Harris of 360 Digest presents Trulia Dilemma.  It seems Trulia is facilitating the misuse of copyrighted material, but it remains to be seen if/who will do something about it.

Diane Tuman of Zillow discusses the fact that the challenges of homeownership go well beyond a mortgage payment, and in her case, all the way to rats in Rats On A Fence.

Bryant Tutas presents Counting the Chickens Before They Hatch on his Active Rain blog.  Bryant shares how he overcame a challenging situation with a client by listening closely and being prepared.

That concludes this edition. Submit your blog article to the next edition of Carnival of Real Estate using our carnival submission form. Past posts and future hosts can be found on our blog carnival index page.
